(SKU: LK1500DEAA) Mahoora is Movable Tented Safari Camps that would be pitched up on selected locations of the prime wild life parks in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's wildlife parks are home to the big four beasts: Elephant, Leopard, Wild Buffalo and Sloth Bear. In addition to these mammals, the reserves are vibrant with populations of deer, sambhur and birdlife. The birdlife consists of variety of endemic and migratory birds. Also found at the lakes of the park are crocodiles. Mahoora brings about a truly luxury camping experience with right royal treatment to all its guests in the wilderness with a dash of indigenous touch.

Location:

Mahoora Safari Camping in Udawalawe offers you the privilege to encounter hundreds of elephants and big game during your stay. The Udawalawe National Park is located in the Southern dry zone of Sri Lanka and spreads across approximately 31000 hectares of land allowing you to enjoy long safari rides. The Udawalawe Reservoir too lies within the boundaries of the park while it surrounds beautiful plains and foothills. The park is located approximately 160km South East of Colombo and is found between the Ratnapura and Monaragala districts. It can be reached via the Ratnapura - Pelmadulla - Embilipitiya road. Helicopters can be chartered if you prefer a faster ride to the park while this is available from the Bandaranaike International Airport as well.

Accommodation:

Mahoora Safari Camping in Udawalawe comprises of two types of tent accommodation. The two categories that you can choose from include the Mahoora Elite and the Mahoora Explorer. Both categories offer campers similar facilities while additional features and more space is available if you choose the Elite category. Standard facilities in both tents include raised or single beds, en-suite bathroom, hot and cold water facilities, fresh linen, digital camera charging facilities within the campsite, jeep facilities to enjoy safaris to the Udawalawe National Park and illumination from 6.00 pm to 11.00 pm and upon request during the mornings.

Facilities:

Meals are always freshly prepared onsite at the Mahoora Safari Camping Site in Udawalawe. The Udawalawe campsite comprises of a well equipped tented kitchen area featuring refrigerator and freezer facilities. For campers who choose the Mahoora Explorer category, there is a delicious BBQ dinner that can be arranged for one night and basic a la carte meals for extras. A limited quantity of beer is also offered for no extra cost. The Mahoora Elite category however offers the privilege for guests to enjoy a seven course dinner with signature specialties for one night. They can also enjoy live cooking stations for breakfast with continental and Sri Lankan dishes available to choose from along with unlimited local alcoholic beverages which includes arrack, gin and beer as well as imported wines to suit your taste buds. Tea and coffee are made available too.

Excursions:

The main attraction in Udawalawe is undoubtedly its elephants while there are approximately 600 - 700 elephants roaming within the confines of the park. Udawalawe Safari Jeep Excursions would take you up close to witness these magnificent animals roaming around in their natural habitat. The Udawalawe National Park is also home to the Sri Lankan leopard, the Rusty Spotted Cat, the Fishing Cat, Sri Lankan Axis Deer, Indian Muntjac, Wild boar and the Water Buffalo. If you are lucky enough, you might also spot the Golden Jackal, the Toque Macaque and the Tufted Grey Langur. Bird lovers are in for a treat since the Park is home to a total of approximately 183 species of birds. There is a population of reptiles as well with about 30 species of snake being spotted on and off.
