Lakpura Star Anise

An evergreen tree producing star shaped aromatic fruits; star anise has been a renowned spice in various recipes in household and hotel kitchens in many parts of the world. Like its culinary uses, star anise is also known for its medicinal purposes too. This spice contains plant compounds that include powerful antiviral, antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties which helps one health in many ways.

Despite its sweetness, the star anise spice is traditionally used in many savoury recipes globally especially in meat dishes. It is also used in various broths, soups and stews and mostly for slow cooking or braised recipes. It adds sort of a sweet yet peppery flavour to the dish. Our Lakpura star anise can be used as whole or a ground spice. If you add as a whole spice, it is usually discarded from the dish before serving and consuming.
