Deep Sea Fishing Boat Tour from Hikkaduwa

Deep Sea fishing is a popular recreational activity that is enjoyed by many tourists and locals alike due to the surrounding coastal treasure troves that Sri Lanka is blessed with. This tour opens doors to enjoy some deep sea fishing in the Southern Oceans of our tropical island, off the coast of Hikkaduwa which is home to an abundance of aquatic life including colourful corals and sea turtles. The boats will take you to the deep blue waters where you can cast your fishing rods and get the biggest catch of your life. You are sure to feel challenged as this is one of the strongest seas during the season. The activity is available from November to April only.

Your high adrenalin deep sea fishing adventure starts off from the Hikkaduwa Harbour at 6:00 am (morning session) or 2:30 pm (evening session), depending on the session that you book. A night session can also be arranged at a customized time and a special rate if required.

Your fishing boat will be a normal fishing boat and if you wish for an advanced vessel, with modern equipment, you can charter them for a separate fee. You will be provided with good sports fishing equipment and bait.

There are two types of fishing methods that are used in Hikkaduwa. Trolling is where the boat drags a fishing net or lines behind them, while this method is highly successful during morning hours. Night fishing lures the fish in the quiet darkness since many fish species are strictly nocturnal and hides when the sun starts to rise. This method is practised after 6:00 in the evening. The morning session will be completed at 9:00 am, while the evening session should be done by 6:00 pm.
